Repair Process
1. ONE CALL. ALL THE ANSWERS.
A PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER customer care representative is here to help handle all of the important details for you in an emergency: Vehicle drop off, vehicle towing service, alternate transportation rental vehicle, and insurance claims assistance.
2. ESTIMATE, AUTHORIZATION, REPAIR
Schedule an estimate appointment or drop by for a Courtesy Estimate, or get us a copy of the insurance company prepared estimate (we work with all insurance companies). From there we can schedule a time to begin the repairs and, in most cases, pre-order the parts necessary to perform the repairs.
3. X-RAY REPAIR PLANNING & REINSPECTION
X-RAY REPAIR PLANNING is a process of visually mapping the damaged areas of your vehicle, meticulously disassembling your vehicle to discover all hidden, supplemental damages. When necessary, we pre-pull or pre-repair damaged areas, and then develop a comprehensive repair plan to restore your vehicle to its pre-accident condition. Once the X-Ray Repair Planning is complete, we contact the insurance company covering the repairs and work with them in developing a supplemental repair estimate and order any additional parts needed to complete repairs.
4. STRUCTURAL REPAIR & BODY REPAIR
Once the supplemental estimate is approved by the insurance company and necessary parts arrive, repairs continue. Any structural repairs are done on one of our frame machines, utilizing a Chief Velocity Computerized Measuring System to return your vehicle to factory specifications. Damaged exterior panels are replaced or repaired as needed and all metal finishing is corrosion protected, featheredged, primed, and block sanded prior to the refinishing phase.
5. MULTI-STEP PAINT REFINISHING
All surfaces to be refinished are first sanded and then chemically cleaned to assure a durable and excellent finish. Areas not being refinished are taped, masked, or covered with plastic wrap to prevent overspray. Next, a surface sealer is applied. Paint for your vehicle is custom mixed based on your vehicle manufacturers color code utilizing a computerized paint mixing system. This custom mixed base color coat is applied and then finished with a final clear coat for a smooth, glossy finish. Refinishing operations are performed in one of our climate controlled, high efficiency air filtration downdraft paint booths. The vehicle is then baked in the spray booth to cure the paint. PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER uses PPG ENVIROBASE HIGH PERFORMANCE Waterborne Paint Technology.
6. REASSEMBLY & MECHANICAL
Once the refinishing process is complete, the vehicle goes back to the body technician for final reassembly and to our mechanic for any mechanical operations that need to be completed (suspension work, wheels, tires, alignment, air conditioning, air bags, seat belts, etc.). Also, any sublet extras are done at this time (painted pinstripes, clear plastic paint protector, gold plating of emblems, etc.).
7. THE FINISHING TOUCHES
After all repairs are completed, your vehicle receives a Premium Wash in our DETAIL CENTER. A final quality check inspection is performed by the manager overseeing the repairs to your vehicle to assure that your vehicle has been restored to its pre-accident condition. The manager will then call you to inform you that your vehicle is ready for pick up.
8. DELIVERY
PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER is open Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and on Saturday 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon for vehicle pick up. There is always someone here during those hours that will be happy to go over the final bill with you and answer any questions you may have regarding the repairs to your vehicle.
